Overview

Located on the Perry Health Sciences Campus adjacent to WakeMed Raleigh, Wake Technical Community College now has space to train students enrolled in the Medical Assisting program.

This program prepares multi-skilled health care professionals to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures. After completing this program, students are eligible begin their career as a credentialed medical assistant in hospitals, physicians’ offices, health maintenance organizations, and health departments.

Our design transformed existing space from another program to better suit the needs of this specialized training. The renovation included durable classroom finishes, a new diagnostic and training rooms with authentic examination tables. Students are now taught to assist with examinations, treatments, and perform routine laboratory procedures in a space that mimics a professional medical environment. Other specialized training spaces include electro-cardiography, and supervised medication administration. Our design also included an office area with a fully functional ADA compliant reception desk for medical office administrative training including scheduling appointments, coding and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections, and computer operations.
