HH Architecture lead a team of highly specialized consultants including Erdy McHenry Architecture to provide NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine with a Master Plan study to develop a plan for modernizing the Teaching Animal Unit (TAU).
Our Design Team provided an analysis of long range needs, a site review to assessing specific site selections for buildings; vehicular/pedestrian/animal circulation; site conditions analyses (such as soil and storm water); environmental impacts (such as tree removal and increased impervious surfaces); farm animal allocations; animal waste management; and phased construction cost of work (COW) order-of-magnitude estimates. Bio-security has been a major component of this Master Plan.
The laboratories for the TAU combine live-animal experiential training with targeted didactic and teaching laboratory exposures across the first three years of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program to provide learning opportunities for species-specific management, handling, clinical sampling, preventive measures, and treatment techniques.
