Sertoma Arts Center Study, Renovation, and Expansion

Overview

The Sertoma Arts Center is a creative and collaborative facility for all ages, offering classes, exhibitions, studio spaces, and community groups.

In 2019, HH Architecture completed a study that explored options to expand the existing Sertoma Arts Center. Beloved by the community, patrons, and staff, the current Center is overdue for programmatic, functional, code, and site improvements. We developed three design options to convey different opportunities and considerations.

Our team was later selected for the renovation of the existing three-story, 12,011 square-foot building. The project includes a new 7,710-square-foot addition designed to expand arts programming and enhance the visitor experience.

The entry area will provide a welcoming destination with spaces for exhibitions, offices, and support functions that strengthen community visibility and engagement. The new ceramics wing will expand the program, offering dedicated classrooms for hand building and wheel throwing, an open studio area, and a shared glazing space.

Renovations to the existing facility include updates to the painting studio, relocation and renovation of the fibers studio, expansion of the jewelry studio, and the addition of two new youth program rooms. Exterior improvements will support ceramics programming with a covered outdoor work area.
