Community Center North

City of Fuquay-Varina Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Resources In Construction Wellness, Recreation Fuquay-Varina, NC 76,950 square-feet Back to Projects

The Town of Fuquay-Varina has an increasing need for recreational programs and activities after experiencing unprecedented growth in recent years. HH Architecture worked with the Town of Fuquay-Varina Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department to design the new two-story, 76,950-square-foot community center.

The community center design embraces natural light and views, with exterior curtainwall and interior glazing enhancing transparency and visual connectivity. The main entry stands out with a high roof and clerestory, leading to a two-story lobby flooded with natural light. Our design team also connected user wayfinding with Fuquay-Varina branding colors and accents throughout the building.

The Community Center North promotes mental, physical, and emotional health for all community members through quality-of-life programming. The center has two racquetball courts and three gymnasiums striped for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. The second floor includes a walking track, exercise equipment room, and a dedicated senior wing. Support spaces consist of offices, storage, restrooms, and public amenities such as a teaching kitchen, technology room, and multipurpose rooms.

Fuquay-Varina residents of all ages are offered programs and amenities at this facility with a dedicated space to accommodate an expanded slate of activities for active adults.
