State Farmers Market Master Plan

Dorothea Dix Conservancy 2019 Recreation, Master Planning Raleigh, NC 86 acres Back to Projects

The goal of the State Farmers Market Master Plan wass to enhance and expand our beloved North Carolina Farmers Market and become a neighbor and partner with Dorothea Dix Park, connecting these two vibrant areas in a mutually beneficial relationship.

Through this process HH Architecture worked with project stakeholders to redefine what a Farmers Market is, while still preserving the heritage of agriculture in North Carolina. This master plan was coordinated with the master plan for Dorothea Dix Park that was prepared by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates (MVVA) under the direction of the City of Raleigh and the Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy and includes the entire 86-acre site located on Lake Wheeler Road and Centennial Campus Drive, adjacent to Dorothea Dix Park.

Our master plan concepts illustrate building expansions and placement of the future buildings, potential repurpose of buildings, vehicular and pedestrian circulation systems, connectivity to adjacent land uses, parking facilities, outdoor space development, aesthetic improvements, and draft utility and storm water management needs, options, and approaches.
